April 9, 1924-October 3, 2018
It is with sincere sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Hancocks, our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend, in her 95th year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Wilfred (2008), her parents Edward J. Maloney and Gertrude B. Maloney nee Hopkinson, 3 Brothers (Jack, Ted & Denis), sister Patricia (Patsy) and Great-Grandson (Alex).
Survived by 3 sons, Jack (Linda), Bernie (Janeen) and Ted (Rose) and 6 Grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer), Peter (Heidi), Erin (Scott), Ben (Melissa), Shannon (Gregory), Bethany (Greg), 12 Great-Grandchildren, and Sister-in-law Joan Hancocks.
Hailing from Belfast, the luck of the Irish brought Joyce to Yorkshire, England, where she met and married Wilf within weeks of their wartime romance. In 1956, the couple immigrated to Canada, where they became lifetime members of the Galt Legion - Branch 121. Joyce’s life was devoted to service as a dedicated mother, a nurturing grandmother, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, a concerned neighbour at Queen’s Square Retirement Residence, and an exceptionally caring friend to many. Many thanks to the excellent staff and wonderful residents at Queen’s Square who made Joyce’s retirement residence an enjoyable experience.
Friends will be received at Corbett Funeral Home 95 Dundas St N Cambridge on Thursday October 11th, 2018 from 12 - 1pm. A Memorial Service will follow from 1-2pm with a reception being held on site from 2-3pm. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joyce’s name to your charity of choice.
