It is with great sadness the Reid family announces the passing of Thelma Eloise Reid (nee Thompson). Thelma passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife and best friend to Richard Reid for 43 years. Cherished mother of Alexcia, Adreen (Craig Murray), Atlon and stepmother to Michelle, Meghan and Karen. Proud grandmother to grandchildren Avaya Eloise Murray, Joven Murray and grand-dog, Ace.
Survived by her mother Novlette, surrogate mother Laseena (Tiddy) and her many brothers and sisters especially Barbara, Beverly (Miss Dee), Livingston and Jeffrey. Pre-deceased by her father David. Lovingly remembered by her dear Aunt Veronica (Roy Campbell) who was more like a sister to her and her children Courtenay and Sandi. Also her best friend and sister in law, Melva Mullings.
Thelma was a strong woman who loved people and always had a caring, giving heart. She was very proud of her koi pond and was an avid gardener but nothing brought her more joy than entertaining her friends and family in her beloved Jamaica. Thelma was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Heaven has gained another angel. We love you forever and always.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21st from 6-9pm at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St N, Cambridge, Ontario. A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 11am at Temple Baptist Church, 400 Holiday Inn Dr, Cambridge, Ontario. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery.
Richard and family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Bob Kemp Hospice who helped them through this difficult journey and provided Thelma with the best care in her final days. Special thanks to Mary, Jane and Bonnie. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated.
