Resendes, Maria Leandres … Born on September 8, 1925 in Santa Maria Azores. Passed away peacefully at Stirling Heights Nursing Home on Tuesday August 10, 2010 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Manuel Resendes. Loving mother of Maria Eugina Camara (John), Antonio Resendes (Gabriella), Manuel Resendes (Shelley), Adelaide Barros (Raul) and mother in law of Fatima Resendes. Dear grandmother of Noemia, Danny, Jason, Jerry, Jessica, Lucilia, Philip, Amanda, Tanya, Sharon and Mike; and great grandmother of Victoria, Laura, Bianca, Nicholas, Marisa, Alesandra and Cristiano. Maria will also be missed by her sister Maria Eugina Freitas, Diolinda Leandres and her brother Antonio Bairos. Predeceased by her son Jose and her brothers Jose Bairos and Manuel Leandres. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Wednesday August 11, 2010 from 7- 9 pm and Thursday August 12, 2010 from 7-9 pm. Rosary will be recited in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday evening at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 184 Elgin St. Cambridge on Friday August 13, 2010 at 9 am. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff at Stirling Heights for the excellent care shown to Maria.
