Joao Ferraz Furtado

Furtado, Joao Ferraz … Peacefully at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday August 31, 2010 at the age of 76. Yearning his presence and remembering his wittiness are his wife Fernanda Furtado (nee Couto) and his menina Elizabeth Furtado (Lewis). Brother of Manuel, Luis, Mariano (Conceicao), Eduardo (Maria Jose), Guilherme (Zelia), and his sister in law Maria. Joao will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, whom he had special names for in the ‘Furtado Language’; as well as family members and friends. Predeceased by his parents Maria Sao Joao and Manuel, his brothers Jacinto, Denis, Antonio and Jose, as well as his mother and father in law Evangelina and Manuel Pereira and his sisters in law Isabelle and Maria do Carmo. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Friday from 7-9p.m. and Saturday from 3-5 & 7-9p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday September 5, 2010 at 10a.m., with Luis Lima officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
