It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald "Don" Charles Greenidge of Cambridge, Ontario at the Freeport Site of the Grand River Hospital on January 8th, 2021 in his 84th year. Don was born June 4, 1937 in Hamilton to Gwendolyn and Herbert Greenidge. He is survived by his beloved wife Dianne (Bast-Greenidge) and his children Janice (David) Sims, Sandy (Jason) Brubacher, Scott (Amanda), Michael (Shelley) Bast, Stephanie (Derek) Haas as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Sylva and Bea of Lansing, Michigan and brother-in-law Bill (Laurie) Malcolm of Cambridge. Don spent most of his childhood in Toronto and on the farm in Crieff where he was the happiest, with his parents Murray and Emily Irvine and sister Audrey Lerch. Don worked many jobs over the years, but he was most proud of going back to school at the age of 46 and graduating with an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Licence from Conestoga College. In later years he owned and operated "Dons Sports Repair" at the Hespeler Arena and had great fun with his customers and made many lifelong friends. "If Don couldn’t repair the problem – no one could". We enjoyed our many vacations to Florida and Don could never understand how so much "Stuff" could be packed in one vehicle without the tires going flat. A Private Ceremony will be held at a later date. A very special thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses and Social Workers at the Renal Clinic in Guelph, Grand River Hospital and Freeport. We thank you for your kindness and compassion throughout this difficult journey. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
