Mary Irene Walsh
WALSH, Mary Irene
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Andrews Terrace, Cambridge, Ontario in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Robert W. Walsh. Loving sister of the late Margaret (Kenneth) Jay and brother Douglas (Jean) Thomson. Survived by her brother Kenneth (Verna) Thomson of Pitt Meadows, B.C. and Ronald (Mary Anne) Thomson of Toronto. Mary will be greatly missed by her nieces Doreen, Patricia, Susan, Sandra and Rebecca and her nephews Ian and John, as well as her great nieces and nephews and 2 great, great nephews. Mary will also be missed by Robert’s children Patricia (Terry) Devenish of Victoria, B.C., the late Richard (Barbara) of Caledon, Ontario, Christine Walsh of Montreal, Quebec and Cynthia (Allen) Ettenson of Toronto and their children and grandchildren. Mary spent many years working as a secretary at Morrison Brass in downtown Toronto and when they closed she went to work at the North York Board of Education and eventually became Head Secretary at Emery Collegiate where she met Bob. They had a wonderful life together for 27 years. They loved to travel and made numerous trips to the East and West Coasts of Canada, California and Barbados, making lasting friendships along the way. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Andrews Terrace for their care during these difficult times, the Stevens family for their visits and birthday parties, and Mary’s many neighbours and friends and parishioners at Trinity Anglican Church. She will be missed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a small Private Family gathering has been arranged and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. Donations to the Alzheimer Society Cambridge or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
