Jerome William Zettell Jr (August 14 1966 – March 15 2021)
Jerry Zettell, voracious reader, backroom scholar and debater, golfer, BMW lover, non-denominational Christian, dog lover, camper, raspberry grower, fisherman, master of the long phone call and in his own words, former "done-it-all" at Zehrs Markets, was the bookend to a large caring family, the ninth child of Jerome and Loretta Zettell (née Schnarr). Despite enormous health challenges and near-death experiences, Jerry mastered his demons, and with the help of those who loved him, survived two liver transplants. (Please sign your organ donor card). He had a fierce attachment to life; his main stated reasons to live were his children and his mother.
Jerry is survived by his dear mother, Loretta Zettell; his son Michael and Michael’s mother Lorie Zettell, Michael’s wife Kate Cox and their daughter Heron Flora; his children Zack, Jon and Katie Zettell and their mother Deb; his siblings Susan Zettell (Andy Watt), Anne Knittle (Peter), Patrick Zettell, Nancy Zettell (Rick Pope), Jim Zettell (Heather Stewart-Zettell) and Jackie Howey (Mark Poser); extended loved ones Alex Bryans and Diane Fowler (Bill); and many nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.
Predeceased by his father, William Jerome Zettell (Jerry), sister Bernadette Bryans and brother Tom Zettell.
At this time there will not be a funeral, but a memorial will be held when Covid restrictions are eased. If you care to remember Jerry, please sign your organ donor card, or donate to the Multi Organ Transplant Unit at London Health Sciences Centre.
