Joan Margaret Leader (nee Stahlbaum)
It is with great sadness That the family announce the passing of Joan on Saturday May 29th 2021 at the age of 89. She passed away peacefully at home with her 7 children and daughter in law Rose by her side. Devoted wife to the late William (Bill) Leader(2011). Loving mother to her son Mark (Rose) and daughters Donna Lyle (Brad), Colleen Maier (Louis), Wendy Leader (David), Michele Sprenger (Jim), Pamela Perrie (Alex), and Jodi Murphy (Alan).Dear gramma to 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Survived by her brother Wilfred Stahlbaum Jr. and her sisters Barabara LeDuc, Gwen Wood (Keith), Kathleen Coppes (Henk), Verle Poultney ( Clive) also by her very special sister in law Karen Bruder and by her brother in law Brock Leader. Predeceased by her sisters in law Joan Stahlbaum, Dorothy Millie, Marion Williams and Hazel Leader. Her brother in laws Willard (Bill) LeDuc, Ralph Millie, Ronald Williams and William (Bill) Bruder. Her son in law Michael Lyle, infant son Michael William and grandson Michael Alan Leader. Joan was born in Guelph to Wilfred and Kathleen Stahlbaum on September 16 1931. Joan was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Myers Rd. in Cambridge and served in many organizations throughout the years and will be missed by all her friends there. She will also be lovingly remembered and missed by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Joan loved to cook, read, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles , do word crossy on her tablet and especially to tend to her flower beds when she was able. She also loved to work on her family history research and travel. The most important things in Joan’s life were her deep faith in her Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ and their plan for her and especially her family. She loved to attend family gatherings whether big or small especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter and Canada day. Due to Covid restrictions a private Family graveside service will be held at Glen Morris Cemetery at this time. Once the restrictions are lifted a memorial celebration of life will be held, details to follow. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the palliative care team that looked after Joan during her brief battle with cancer, Dr. Rachel Halligan, Cindy, Ram, Elaine, Abby and all the PSWs who attended to her needs. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
